Owner Since 2008

AutoHop Lambton has been a family owned and operated business since it was first opened in 1987 by John Wilson, originally called Wilson’s Auto Repairs. This workshop was situated in the current carpark, but was damaged beyond repair by the 1989, forcing John to move the business next door.

Ian Baines began working for John in 2000, leaving Newcastle Regal Motors to take the position. Ben Hopper, who now owns the business, moved from a small country town called Tallimba in 2001 to play football for the Newcastle Knights and started working for John in 2002. 

John retired from the automotive trade in 2008, selling the business to Ian and Ben and the rest is history!

Ian and Ben, along with their wives Sam and Amanda, changed the business name to Wilson’s Auto Repairs when they took over the business. Since then, Ian has left the business and left it in the hands of Ben to now be the sole owner. Following on from this time, Ben has recently decided to rebrand the business to Autohop Lambton! Amanda worked as a Primary Teacher at Stockton Public School and now works as the office manager while caring for her and Ben’s four young children.

The team at AutoHop Lambton is made up of employees who have a total of 65 years’ combined experience in the automotive repair industry. AutoHop Lambton are members of the MTA (Motor Trade Association) and are IAME-qualified to ensure professional and superior mechanical service.
